ORLANDO, Fla. – North Carolina Central University men's basketball assistant coach
Nigel Thomas was selected to participate in the prestigious 2023 TopConnect Basketball Symposium on June 12 in Orlando, Florida, presented by Teamworks and INFLCR.
TopConnect, originated in 2003 by then VCU Athletics Director Dr. Richard Sander, identifies the top assistant basketball coaches in the country and connects them with mid-major Athletic Directors, providing tremendous networking and leadership development opportunities for both parties. In its sixth year, TopConnect develops educational programming that allows top assistant coaches to hear from a wide variety of successful leaders and speakers.
"I'm extremely humbled and honored to be selected and recognized by Dr. Sander and the TopConnect committee," said Thomas. "It was such an invaluable experience to be in the same room as other rising assistant coaches, athletics directors and athletics administrators, all on a quest to improve and develop in our profession."
Thomas joined the NCCU coaching staff in 2019, after coaching experiences at North Carolina Wesleyan College (assistant coach, 2014-19), Langston University (head coach, 2011-14; assistant coach, 2008-11), and Prairie State College (assistant coach, 2003-08).
