NCCU’s Harris Selected MEAC Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Redshirt senior Ja'Darius Harris of North Carolina Central University's men's basketball team was named the MEAC Men's Player of the Week announced by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

Harris (Trenton, Tenn.) earned his first career double-double in the Eagle's only game last week. He led all scorers on Dec. 20 against Longwood with 21 points in the 79-70 victory and set a new career-high of 10 rebounds.

NCCU's win broke Longwood's 12-game winning streak as they came into McDougald-McLendon Arena the 25th ranked mid-major program in the nation according to CollegeInsider.com.

With a perfect five-of-five performance from the free-throw line against the Lancers, Harris is currently third in the MEAC in free throw percentage (89.4). He's also second in the conference in field goal percentage at 48.8 percent.

NC Central returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 3 as hosts to Truett McConnell at 7 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
