DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University cheerleader
Arianne Brown-Stephenson has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for July 2022 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the sidelines, in the classroom and in the community.
A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Brown-Stephenson is in her second season as a member of the NCCU varsity cheerleading squad.
Brown-Stephenson is a first generation college student and she maintaining an impressive overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.939, majoring in accounting. She is the vice president of NCCU's chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants.
The junior is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and received the Eagle Excellence Award (highest GPA) for varsity cheerleading in 2021-22.
Brown-Stephenson has been volunteering in the community, including weekly readings to elementary kids during the summer at Nootie's Playhouse and mentoring cheerleaders at Douglas Byrd High School.
After she graduates from NCCU, Brown-Stephenson plans to pursue graduate studies to obtain her MBA and CPA before starting her own accounting firm and financial network that advocates for, teaches and spreads awareness of the importance of financial literacy in black and brown communities.
