DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University broke school records for most points scored and largest margin of victory during a 127-40 win over St. Andrews University on Saturday afternoon inside McDougald-McLendon Arena, as the Eagles improve to 5-0 at home this season.
All 15 Eagles that stepped on the court scored, as junior guard
Ja'Darius Harris topped seven NCCU double-figure scorers with a game-high 18 points. Senior forward
Cameron Butler secured his second career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while senior forward
Kris Monroe tallied 13 points.
Monroe continued his hot streak from long distance on Saturday, connecting on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. In the past three games, the Raleigh native has drained 15-of-25 from 3-point range, a 60% success rate.
As a team, the NCCU made 16 3-pointers, the most by the Eagles since recording 17 triples against Warren Wilson on Nov. 18, 2018.
The Eagles also stepped up defensively, amassing a season-best 18 steals, as junior guard
Fred Cleveland Jr. and senior forward
Dan Oladapo tallied four steals apiece.
The previous record for most points scored in a game by NCCU was 123 (Nov. 18, 2018 vs. Warren Wilson), and the prior standard for largest margin of victory was 85 points in a 119-34 win over St. Augustine's on Feb. 18, 1944.Â
NCCU (5-4) returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Marquette at 8:30 p.m. (7:30 CT).Â
