Kendall Wallace and freshman
Kyle Gregory posted the top two scorecards for the North Carolina Central University men's golf team in both rounds of the 2022 Alabama A&M Golf Classic that was contested on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
The Eagles moved up one spot in the team standings with a strong second round. NCCU finished in eighth place, passing Prairie View A&M University in the two-day event that was shortened from 54 to 36 holes due to heavy fog on Tuesday.
Wallace led the Eagles for a second straight week, turning in scorecards of 77 and 72 on the Robert Trent Jones (RTJ) Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. Wallace finished tied for 19th out of 57 golfers with his five-over par total of 149.
Gregory signed for rounds of 77 and 74 on the 6,834-yard, par-72 track that is located a little southeast of Huntsville. He finished two shots behind Wallace in a tie for 27th place with a seven-over par sum of 151.
Junior
Trey Morse also fired a pair of rounds in the 70s, finishing with a score of 79-76—155. Freshman
Kobe Narcisse also improved his score in round two with a tally of 88-79—167. Senior
Daniel Barbare chipped in a counting score of 78 for the Eagles in the first round.
Lehigh University won the nine-team event with a 19-under par total of 557. The Mountain Hawks won by 32 shots over second-place Arkansas Pine Bluff with the aid of tournament medalist Jake Roth's 11-under winning score of 68-65—133.
NC Central will announce the spring portion of its schedule in the upcoming weeks.
