NC CENTRAL COURT:
The Eagles are undefeated in MEAC play after tallying a 3-1 win over Morgan State on Friday and 3-2 victory over Coppin State on Sunday. NCCU (3-8 Overall, 2-0 MEAC) will be going for its first 3-0 start in league play since joining the league in 2011-12 (NCCU also started 2-0 in the MEAC in 2016 and 2020).
A pair of Eagles collected MEAC weekly awards for their performances in the wins against the two Baltimore based league foes. Senior middle blocker/outside hitter
Ammaarah Williams was named MEAC Player of the Week and sophomore
Lauren Janok was named MEAC Setter of the Week.
Williams is coming off her best two hitting matching of her collegiate career, spiking a career-high 21 kills against MSU and a team-high 19 kills against CSU. After the first weekend of league play, Williams paces NCCU with 3.45 points per set and ranks in the top-10 of the MEAC in three statistical categories: blocks per set (0.89/3rd), hitting percentage (.304/5th) and kills per set (2.73/8th).
Janok provided 48 assists in both home triumphs, which is a new career-high match total for the setter. Janok also notched a career-best 23 digs against Coppin State. Janok also ranks in the top-10 of the MEAC in three statistical categories as of Sept. 29: assists per set (8.38/2nd), aces per set (0.46/7th) and digs per set (3.10/10th). She also averages nearly two kills per set.
Senior outside hitter
Arlanda Faulkner reached double-digit kills for a fourth and fifth time this season in NCCU's first two league matches as she continues to lead the Eagles attack with 2.87 kills per set. Senior
Celene Morris is hitting .286 in league play and is averaging 1.33 kills and 3.23 digs per set. Redshirt sophomore libero

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE COURT:
The Bulldogs are in search of their first win of the season and first since Sept. 28, 2018 (60-match losing streak). South Carolina State (0-11 Overall, 0-2 MEAC) is coming off straight-set losses to Coppin State and Morgan State last weekend.
Junior transfer Maria Julia Vedovatto Loureiro, who played her first two seasons at Missouri State University-West Plains, has taking over the team lead in most statistical categories. She is averaging a team-best 2.12 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.39 aces per set. Senior Gabrielle Wells, who previously played at Johnson C. Smith, is the only other Bulldog averaging over one kill per set. Freshmen Kayleigh Sullivan and Kendal Rivera have taken over the setting duties at SCSU, averaging 4.16 and 1.85 assists per set, respectively.
