A Salute to NCCU Baseball

Greetings Eagles:

Today is truly a bittersweet moment in the history of this athletics program.  In the final home game of the NCCU baseball program, we salute our seniors who have worked diligently to accomplish their goals as students and athletes and we wish them the very best in their future endeavors.  We salute this entire group of young men and coaches who have dedicated their time and energy in representing NCCU with great pride and excellence.

I know this has been a challenging year, but I respect and appreciate your dedication, grace, and loyalty to your coaches, your teammates, the department and NCCU.

The accomplishments of this great program will be etched in the history of NCCU.  We salute Coach Henry White for having the courage and wisdom to lead our first Division I team.  He and his coaching staff ushered in a new era of Eagles Baseball.  We salute every former baseball student-athlete who laid the groundwork to help build a program that has produced businessmen, lawyers, servicemen, civil service professionals, scientists and professional athletes.  This is what I live for every year, seeing the growth and development of young people we are blessed to serve.

I want to thank Coach Koerner, Coach Mincey, Coach Porcelli, Coach McAllister and Coach Cook for all they have done to represent this University and for producing great young men as students, athletes and leaders.

Coach Koerner has done a phenomenal job with our baseball program for the past 10 years, which is evident in his accomplishments and honors.  His focus on their academic success and emphasis on community service, enhanced the development of every baseball student-athlete he recruited to NCCU.  NCCU has truly been blessed to have him and his family, Kylie, Sam and Elizabeth, be a part of the NCCU family for the past 10 years.

To our student-athletes: You have been exemplary as student-athletes and have represented this program and this University with Pride and Excellence.  It has been my honor and privilege to serve you and help you accomplish many of your academic and athletic goals during your tenure at NCCU. Continue to strive for excellence. Use all of the tools learned from your coaches and your experiences at NCCU, and continue TO BE GREAT!

Thank You,
