STARTING FIVE:
1. NCCU begins its 89th season with over 1,230 wins.
2. LeVelle Moton will coach his 13th season at NCCU in 2021-22, and is just the third coach in program history to coach 10+ campaigns.
3. NCCU will play 11 of its 14 non-conference games away from home, and three of those at a neutral site.
4. NCCU will face six first-time opponents during the non-conference slate.
5. NCCU has gone 19-1 at home in non-conference games since 2016.

SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Richmond went 14-9 last season, and 6-5 in Atlantic-10 league play to finish eighth in the conference.  The Spiders received an invitation to play in the NIT, and defeated Toledo, 76-66, before narrowly falling to Mississippi State, 68-67, in the quarterfinal round.  Richmond brings back impact players Jacob Gilyard and Grant Golden, who both rank within the top-10 of the school's all-time records in multiple categories.  Gilyard is on track to become the all-time leader in steals in NCAA Division I history, and Golden is poised to become the first player to earn five All-Atlantic 10 honors.

LAST FIVE VS RICHMOND:
First Meeting.

HARD RESET
NCCU not only lost 11 student-athletes from the 2020-21 season, the most during LeVelle Moton's 13-year tenure, the Eagles also welcome 10 student-athletes to this year's roster.  Nine of the newcomers are transfers, and one is an incoming freshman.

SECOND-STINT, SECOND TEAM
Randy Miller Jr. returns to NCCU after one season at Indiana State, and was selected as a Preseason Second Team All-MEAC member.  In 2018-19, Miller was NCCU's second-leading scorer with an average of 13.3 points per game. He finished top-15 in the MEAC in that category, and was a top-10 three-point shooter as he connected on 37.1 percent of his attempts and averaged 1.9 treys per contest. He also knocked down 66 threes to tie for the 10th-most in a single season at NCCU. Miller was also efficient from the free-throw line, as he finished top-10 in the league with a success rate of 80.7 percent.
