Thank you for your interest in the NCCU Cheerleading program. As we navigate through the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to hold a Virtual Tryout for JV Cheerleaders. Please pay very close attention to the information and follow the directions.

Q.        Who is able to participate in the virtual JV tryouts?
A.        All first time students as well as continuing students at the University are allowed to participate in the Virtual JV tryouts.

Q.        What must I submit via email to begin the process for the virtual tryout?
A.        All individuals MUST forward to Head Coach, LuAnn Edmonds-Harris the following documents: Application, Waiver, Medical Form (which are located at the top of this document). In addition, you MUST forward a copy (front & back) of your insurance card, results from a Sickle Cell Anemia Test, and a copy of your Immunization record. Sickle Cell Anemia Tests can be done at your local Health Department or Primary Physician.

Q.        What qualifications are the coaches looking for?
A.        Individuals with confidence, strong voices, ability to perfect the NCCU style of Cheer; fit, toned and in shape bodies; the ability to demonstrate great work ethics; individuals who are receptive to change; able to positively accept constructive criticism; and creativity are primary factors that we are looking for.

Q.        What is the deadline for submitting ALL required documents?
A.        ALL required documents are to be submitted by June 30, 2020. There will be no exceptions made.

Q.        How should these documents be submitted?
A.        ALL documents are to be sent in one mailing. Please make sure your name is on ALL of the documents. Do not mail "piece by piece". Mail altogether in one package.
            The correct mailing address is:

A.        Once ALL documents have been received, they will be forwarded to our Athletic Trainers for review. The Athletic Trainers will be responsible for the review of the documents and notify the Coaches of individuals who have been cleared. Once cleared, an email will be forwarded to your email with the link to the actual tryout videos. You will have one week to learn the materials, upload them to a video format and submitted to lharris@nccu.edu. This will be done from July 10-17, 2020.

After receipt of the videos, the Coaching Staff will review and make selections on a Provisional Squad for 2020-2021. Notifications will be sent via email by the JV Coaches with further details about report date, etc.
