DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University men's basketball senior
Jibri Blount (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has earned more national recognition as he has been named a BOXTOROW First Team All-American, and NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Second Team All-District, the outlets announced on Monday, March 23.
"He's the hardest working individual that I've been around in quite some time," said NCCU men's basketball head coach
LeVelle Moton of the senior forward. "He's more than deserving of every accolade he receives."
Blount had a phenomenal season on his way to becoming the third Eagle to be named MEAC Player of the Year in the Division I era. He finished first in the conference in steals with 2.2 per game, second in scoring with 19.2 points, third in rebounding with 9.5, and fifth in field goal percentage at 52.5. Nationally, as of March 10 he ranked 22nd in NCAA Division I with 65 steals, 25th in minutes per game at 36.8, and 33rd in double-doubles with 13.
Blount also finished sixth all-time at NCCU in a single season with 596 points, fifth in field goals with 216, fifth in rebounds with 294, fourth in steals with 68, fifth in total minutes with 1,141, and fourth in minutes per game. He's also the only person to reach those points, rebounds, and steal totals at NCCU in a single-season in program history.
This marks the fourth consecutive year an NCCU student-athlete has been selected as a BOXTOROW All-American and NABC All-District team member, stretching back to 2017. To view the entire lists, visit BOXTOROW.com and NABC.com.
