DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior pitcher
Jake Eigner has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2020 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
Eigner is in his fourth season with the Eagles and he has made 20 appearances on the mound representing the maroon and gray. He is averaging nearly one strikeout per inning over his career.
The right-handed reliever has twice tossed two innings of scoreless relief. The first time he hurled a career-high three strikeouts against Wagner College and the second time he held North Carolina A&T State University without a hit.
Eigner is a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society and NCCU Honors Program.
The Germantown, Wisconsin, resident has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference as both a MEAC All-Academic Team and MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team award winner.
Eigner is a computer science and business major with a concentration in information and communications technology. He boasts a 3.968 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and plans to begin a career as network engineer after he graduates NCCU.
