Eagles Stopped by North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University and North Carolina A&T met to make up a weather-postponed game from earlier in the season, and the Aggies came away with a 9-2 win on Tuesday, May 7 at War Memorial Stadium.

NCAT (26-21, 14-7 MEAC) took an early lead in the first inning after taking advantage of an error, and then added another run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.  NCCU (20-27, 10-14 MEAC) responded in the top of the third on an RBI single from Josh Brammell (Harrison City, Pa.), but after that the Aggies went on to score five unanswered runs to take a 7-1 lead heading to the seventh.

Corey Joyce (Lexington, N.C.) delivered an RBI for the Eagles in the top of the seventh inning, but the Aggies again volleyed back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to finish the scoring for the game at 9-2.

Of note for the Eagles, Brammell finished the game with two hits including a double and an RBI.

The Eagles are next in action on Wednesday, May 8 at Longwood before returning home to start a two-game series with Norfolk State on Friday, May 10 at the Durham Athletic Park for Senior Weekend.
