Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – North Carolina Central University once again entered the late stages tied with Savannah State, but the Tigers broke the deadlock in the seventh inning on the way to a 5-3 win and series sweep at Tiger Field on Sunday, March 24.
 
SSU (4-12-1, 3-3 MEAC) scored first in the bottom of the opening frame, but NCCU (9-15, 3-6 MEAC) catapulted ahead in the top of the third with help of a two-RBI single from 
Vinny Bailey (Raleigh, N.C.) to send the Eagles ahead, 3-1.
 
The Tigers drew level in the fourth on a pair of run-producing at-bats, and then Joey Robertson (Wayne, Ill.) sent the home side ahead with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to help SSU secure the series sweep.
 
Bailey led the Eagles with a pair of RBI, and Robertson, Jalen Atterbury (Decatur, Ga.) and Luis Lamarche (Miami, Fla.) each collected two hits for SSU.
 
NCCU returns home after spending eight games away on Tuesday, March 26 against High Point at 6:00 p.m. at the Durham Athletic Park.  Admission is free.
