DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University cheerleader
Erica Lewis has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for August 2019 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the sidelines, in the classroom and in the community.
A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lewis is in her third season as a member of the NCCU varsity cheerleading squad.
Lewis maintains an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.18, majoring in early childhood education.
The junior has been a member of the Dean's List and Honor Roll. Lewis is the cheerleading Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative and is Miss SAAC.
"Her work ethics and value to the squad since her freshman year has been great," said head cheerleading coach
LuAnn Edmonds-Harris. "She is an outstanding young lady with great potential, who brings so much to our squad with her creativeness, personality and ability to inspire others."
Lewis is planning on attending graduate school after graduating NCCU. She will then seek a teaching position with second or fifth graders.
