NICEVILLE, Fla. – North Carolina Central University fell put together a run in the second half, but Nicholls State's high shooting percentage proved too tough for the Eagles on the way to a 77-63 final score at The Arena at Northwest Florida State College on Friday, Nov. 23.
Nicholls (3-4) had a hot start to the game as the Colonels knocked won seven treys in the first half, and took a 37-31 lead to the intermission against NCCU (1-5). Nicholls went on to shoot 50.8 percent from the floor with a total of 10 three-pointers.
Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill) led the Eagles with a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds, and
Larry McKnight Jr. (North Miami, Fla.) filled the stat book with nine points and seven boards.
Randy Miller Jr. (Odenton, Md.) also contributed with 11 points for the maroon and gray.
Jeremiah Jefferson (Dallas, Texas) put in a game-high 22 points for the Colonels, and Kevin Johnson (Thibodaux, La.) followed with 20 points.
As a team, the Eagles outrebounded the Colonels 42 to 30. NCCU will face Southern in the final round of the Emerald Coast Classic on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11:00 a.m. eastern, before heading back to Durham to host Christendom on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:00 p.m. inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
