2018 Elon Fall Invitational Results
ELON, N.C. — Redshirt sophomore
Frida Cnossen and freshman
Ivana Dragovic both won a pair of singles matches for the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team at the 2018 Elon University Fall Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center Saturday-Sunday.
Dragovic was the only Lady Eagle to produce a win in her first match of the two-day event. She defeated Christopher Newport freshman Alison Burgess 6-4, 6-3 in the Acorn flight. Dragovic lost her next match before battling to a dramatic 7-6, 3-6, 10-5 win over freshman Marielle Leahy.
Cnossen lost her opener to the Powell flight champion in Davidson junior Samantha Armas. She then bounced back with two straight wins. Cnossen first topped Christopher Newport junior Olivia Reed 6-2, 6-0 and then knocked off Radford freshman Katey Fruehauf by an 8-4 margin.

Emily Pena netted NCCU's last singles win in her final match of the Acorn flight. Pena disposed of Burgess by a final tally of 6-1, 6-0.

Maru Berghaus, sophomore
Polina Sakharova and freshman
Hannah Gaines all went winless in singles play for NCCU.
The Lady Eagles picked up two more wins in doubles action.
Berghaus and Sakharova opened up the Gold doubles flight win an 8-2 conquest of Christopher Newport tandem. In additional round robin doubles play, Pena and Miller teamed up for a 6-2 triumph over another duo of the Captains.
NCCU will next begin dual match action in January.
