Dante Holmes (Baltimore, Md.) will cap off his final season with Second Team All-MEAC honors, as voted by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference the league office announced on Friday, March 4.
Holmes reached new career highs during the 2015-16 season as he averaged 15.6 points per game and finished eighth in the league in scoring, while shooting 41.0 percent from the field. He knocked down a total of 72 three-pointers and finished sixth in the conference with 38.7 percent of his shots falling from the perimeter.
During one run in the season Holmes strung together four games with 20+ points, including a 25-point performance with a career-high 12 rebounds against Florida A&M on Feb. 15 to become the first Eagle to reach those totals in a game in the Division I era. He also set a new career-high in scoring with 26 points at LIU Brooklyn where he tallied four treys.
Holmes followed up the game against Florida A&M with 24 points at Coppin State on Feb. 18 and earned MEAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 22. This is the second postseason all-conference honor for Holmes after he was voted to the Third Team for the 2013-14 season, and he was also on the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team for the 2015-16 season.
