Complete Game Notes (PDF) THE GAME: NCCU drops the curtain on the 2015-16 regular season with a trip to the Corbett Center to get revenge against North Carolina A&T. The Aggies defeated NCCU in dramatic fashion on Feb. 6 after taking a 67-63 overtime win. A win for the Eagles could allow them to finish fifth in the MEAC.
THE CONFERENCE PICTURE:-AS IT STANDS: NCCU is currently in sixth place in the MEAC, and if the conference tournament started today, NCCU would play #11 Coppin State on Monday, March 7.
-IF NCCU BEATS NORTH CAROLINA A&T: The Eagles can finish as high as fifth in the conference at 8-8, which would place them in the first round against the #12 team on Monday, March 7 which will be either Delaware State or Coppin State. NCCU needs Savannah State to lose against Florida A&M for that to happen.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES:-North Carolina A&T finished with a 9-23 record last season and was 6-10 in conference play. The Aggies bring in an interim head coach following the resignation of longtime MEAC coach Cy Alexander. Jay Joyner stepped in and won his first game against Savannah State on Jan. 30 (73-72), and is currently 4-4 at the helm.
-The Aggies are led by Bruce Beckford (Silver Spring, Md.) is a major contributor for the squad with 12.6 points and 6.6 boards per contest. Sam Hunt (Greensboro, N.C.) is also a big contributor who averages 15.1 points along with 2.1 assists per game.
-North Carolina A&T comes to Durham after a 62-52 loss at Bethune-Cookman on Monday, Feb. 29. Four players reached double figures, and two recorded double-doubles. Beckford led with 18 points and 10 boards, and Denzel Keyes (Kinston, N.C.) notched 10 points and 11 rebounds.
SERIES: NCCU leads, 76-71.
THE RIVALRY:NCCU and NC A&T meet on the hardwood for the 148th time in Greensboro, with the Aggies holding a 76-71 all-time series lead. The Eagles had closed the gap by winning four-straight, but NC A&T broke the streak by beating NCCU for the first time in Durham since 2011 with a 67-63 overtime win on Feb. 6.
