Eagle-Nine Start Trek to MEAC Tournament against North Carolina A&T

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University baseball team opens the book on Southern Division play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference against in-state rival North Carolina A&T State University on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12 at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.

NCCU (7-7) took the season series against NC A&T (3-9) in the 2015 campaign, however the Aggies defeated the Eagles on the final day of the season to keep NCCU out of the conference tournament.

Justice Sampson (Lumberton, N.C.) has had a fantastic start to the season out of the bullpen for NCCU with nine appearances without allowing an earned run.  Sampson has collected two saves with seven strikeouts over 10 complete innings of work.

Myles Sowell (Greensboro, N.C.) anchors the batting order for NC A&T, and is the current MEAC Player of the Week.  Sowell picked up eight hits over the last four games for the Aggies with two homers and three RBI.  He leads the club with eight walks and five stolen bases.

All three games of the series will be carried live on the NCCU Sports Network available at NCCUEaglePride.com and live updates can be found on Twitter by following @NCCUAthletics.
