NCCU Baseball Hosts Niagara University for Weekend Series


DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University baseball team returns to the Durham Athletic Park after a mid-week rainout to host Niagara University for four games beginning on Friday, Feb. 26.

NCCU's (0-3) weekend starters will get another crack at picking up their first win of the year after the opening series against Morehead State.  Conrad Kovalcik (Detroit, Mich.) had the strongest start at the plate as he picked up five hits in 10 at bats with two doubles and a homer.

Niagara (1-3) started the season down in Vero Beach, Florida at the Historic Dodgertown Classic from Feb. 19-21 against Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Toledo, with the Purple Eagles grabbing a 4-3 win over Toledo.  Michael Fuhrman (Palmyra, Pa.) earned MAAC Baseball Player of the Week for his performance as he went 8-for-14 with seven runs scored.

First pitch for the weekend is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader and the Sunday finale will begin at 1:00 p.m.
