SCOUTING THE EAGLES:-Coppin State went 8-23 last season with a 6-10 record in MEAC play. The Eagles advanced past Bethune-Cookman in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament, 64-60 before bowing out to NCCU 43-91.
-The Eagles are paced by speed merchant guard Christian Kessee (Las Vegas, Nev.) who averages 13.8 points per game. Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md.) is currently picking up 11.8 points and 7.0 boards per contest to help push the crew.
-Coppin State fell 71-67 to Delaware State its last time out on Monday, Feb. 15. Harris put up a game-high 18 points, and Trevon Seymore (Waterbury, Conn.) flirted with a triple-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists over 37 minutes of play.
SERIES: NCCU leads, 8-3.
NCCU VS. COPPIN STATENCCU holds an 8-3 all-time lead over Coppin State and a 6-1 lead in the Division I era. NCCU has picked up the last four games, with the last two being results at different extremes. The Eagles survived CSU 79-77 at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Jan. 24, 2015, and then notched a record rout in the MEAC Tournament by the score of 91-43 on March 11, 2015. The 48-point spread was the second-largest in tournament history.
