DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University returns home to the Durham Athletic Park after a weekend series at Wofford to host the Trojans of Virginia State in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 1 with game one scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.  Admission is free.
NCCU (11-15, 6-5 MEAC) had won six consecutive games at the Durham Athletic Park, stretching from March 10 to March 22 before having the streak ended by Charleston Southern by a score of 3-2 on March 25.
The Eagles have hit five home runs over the past five games, led by sophomore Carlos Ortiz (Cleveland, Ohio), who has hit two of them.  Through those games, Ortiz has a batting average of .381 (8-21) with four runs, four RBI, and owns a slugging percentage of .667. 
VSU (14-8, 6-4 CIAA) has struggled recently, winning just two of their last eight games, all at home.  Prior to that stretch, the Trojans had won four straight. 
VSU is led at the plate by senior Nick Christopher (Dinwiddie, Va.), who is batting .413 so far this season.  He leads the team in homers (4) and is third in RBI behind team leader Zachary Jordan (Chesterfield, Va.) with 21.  Christopher sits third in the conference in batting average, tied for third in homers, and is tied for fourth in steals as well with nine.
