NCCU EARNS NO. 4 SEED FOR MEAC WOMEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Lady Eagles Face Howard Thursday Morning

NORFOLK, Va.,– The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the seeding for the 2014 Women's Tennis Championships with the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team receiving a No. 4 seed in the southern division. The championship is scheduled for April 17-19 at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C.
 
The Lady Eagles, who finished 5-12 overall and 2-3 in league action during the regular season, are slated to match up with the No. 1 seed from the northern division, Howard at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
 
The Lady Bison (12-4) tallied a 5-0 MEAC regular-season record, winning 11 out of their last 12 matches, including five-straight conference victories.
 
Bethune-Cookman swept divisional play in the south (6-0) and ended its regular season with an 18-9 overall record. The Lady Wildcats will face Hampton, the No. 4 north seed, on Thursday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
 
South Carolina State earned the No. 2 seed in the south and will face the No. 3 northern division opponent Delaware State, while Florida A&M rounds out the south at the No. 3 spot battling the No. 2 from the north, Morgan State.
 
The 2014 MEAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championship begins with women's play on Thursday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m., while the men begin action at noon. The women's semi-final rounds start on Friday at 8:30 a.m. followed by the men at noon. The Championship concludes on Saturday with the women's final beginning at 9 a.m. followed by the men's title match at noon. The championship is free and open to the public.
