TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After dropping game one, North Carolina Central University used extra innings for the second time in the last three games to split a crucial MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) doubleheader, 13-5, 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee, Fla.

Game one saw Florida A&M rack up 18 hits on the way to the 13-5 victory as the Rattlers had eight different batters record at least one RBI led by second baseman Kendal Weeks' three RBI day at-the dish.  The Rattlers led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, until Florida A&M added four runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, setting the stage for the tough loss.

The final game of the day saw NCCU scratch and claw out a win in game two as sophomore James Dey (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded a game-high three RBI for the maroon and gray.

After leading 4-1 through five innings that included the first career home run by sophomore Kory Wood (Spring Lake, N.C.), the host Rattlers slowly charged back to tie the game with three runs in the seventh inning to make it 4-4 off-the-bat of Bennie Robinson's two RBI double down the right field line.

With the game tied at 4-4 heading into extra innings, the Eagles responded with the final blow of the day with senior Carter Williamson (Roanoke, Va.) crushed a double down to left field to lead off the frame, later scoring on another Dey RBI single.  A wild pitch later plated NCCU's final run of the game as the maroon and gray took a 6-4 lead heading into the ninth.

FAMU plated one run on an RBI single to left field by Devin Perry, but left the tying run in scoring position as NCCU held on for the 6-5 win.

Despite the no-decision, Terry McNabb (Davidson, Sask.) threw six innings, allowing only three earned runs, while junior Kyle Shields (Bailey, N.C.) earned his second win at NCCU going 3.0 innings with two earned runs allowed and two strikeouts.

Dey finished the day 3-for-8 (.375 BA) with five RBI to top the Eagle offense.

NCCU (9-13-1, 6-5 MEAC) looks to win its third straight league series with the finale on Sunday, scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch from Moore-Kittles Field.
