Coming off Saturday's 86-44 win over SC State on Senior Day, North Carolina Central University will face the Tigers of Savannah State University in the final home contest of the 2013-14 campaign. With a win, the Eagles can clinch the 2013-14 MEAC Regular Season title, which would a program first at the NCAA Division I level.
THE SERIES
The first meeting between NCCU and Savannah State took place on Dec. 11, 1954. SSU is 7-3 since 2009 when the series renewed including a 4-1 mark at home over the Eagles. The maroon and gray trail in the series 8-7 to the Tigers.

SCOUTING REPORT
-Savannah State enters Monday's night nationally-televised showdown with a two-game winning streak in-tow following Saturday night's 71-67 overtime win over North Carolina A&T inside the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Tigers held on to win the contest inspite of Aggie freshman Denzel Keyes who scored 23 points that included a 9-for-10 effort from the foul line. Senior Deven Williams led the SSU attack with 19 points going 4-for-7 from beyond-the-arc, while his teammate Jyles Smith recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Jeremiah Hill added 13 points as he went 3-for-7 from three-point range in the win.

SAVANNAH, GA. – North Carolina Central University's Jeremy Ingram (Charlotte, N.C.) rolled up a career-high 38 points as the Eagles led tape-to-tape against Savannah State University to earn win No. 12 in-a-row in the 76-62 victory inside Tiger Arena. The win is significant in that it's the first inside Tiger Arena after falling short on four previous tries, gave the maroon and gray 20 victories on the year, and marked the first back-to-back 20-win campaign since the 1996-97 season. The win also gave the program 17 20-win seasons in program history.
-SSU is led by 6-0 senior guard Deven Williams who is the lone Tiger averaging double figures at 10.5 points a game. Williams is 13th in the conference in three-point field goal percentage at 35.8 percent from behind-the-arc. The Tigers also boast of the top forwards in the league in Jyles Smith, as the 6-9, 215-pound senior averages 7.8 points a game, 7.8 rebounds (tied for first in the MEAC), and 3.0 blocks per game (seconds in the MEAC). Smith is sixth in field goal percentage shooting 53.1 percent from-the-field, 11th in offensive rebounds ripping down 2.4 offensive boards a game, and he's currently second in defensive rebounding at 5.4 boards per game. Junior transfer guard Terel Hall is 13th in the league in steals averaging 1.3 thefts per contest. Not to be forgotten, 6-1 junior guard Keierre Richards is sixth in the conference shooting 82.2 percent from the foul line.
-As a team, Savannah State has a reputation of a hard-nosed, physically demanding style of defense as the Tigers allow just 65.7 points a game, which is third in the MEAC, while averaging 61.9 points per contest to sit 11th on the offensive side of the floor. SSU's systems employs a total commitment to defense, as the Tigers hold their opponents to 41.8 percent from-the-field, sitting third in the MEAC. The same can be said about their "D" around the perimeter, SSU holds opponents to 32.8 percent shooting to place themselves third in the conference. The blue and orange are also third in blocked shots at 4.9 points per game and steals at 7.4 thefts per contests.
-In his eighth season at the helm, Horace Broadnax, has taken the Tiger program to the top of the MEAC heap in a short period of time. Savannah State took the 2011-12 regular season crown in the league, earning a trip to the NIT (National Invitational Tournament). During his tenure in Savannah, Broadnax has compiled a record of 116-145, while racking up a record of 152-242 in 12 seasons as a head coach.
