DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University baseball team will face its first road challenge as the Eagles will battle the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the PC Baseball Complex in Clinton, S.C.
Presbyterian (2-0) took on the Gamecocks on South Carolina on Tuesday and hosts an Eagle squad that dropped a 15-7 decision to Canisius to begin the 2014 campaign.
PC is 10-0 against NCCU since these two programs began battling.
Head coach Jim Koerner has not announced who his starting pitcher will be on Wednesday.
The Eagle offense saw some good things at-the-plate on Monday night as senior Tyson Simpson (Burgaw, N.C.) went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while freshman Carlos Ortiz (Cleveland, Ohio) went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Not to be forgotten, senior backstop Carter Williamson (Roanoke, Va.) was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to ignite the maroon and gray attack.
Next up, following Wednesday matchup against the Blue Hose, the maroon and gray will host Niagara University in a four-game weekend set beginning Friday, Feb. 21 and ending on Sunday, Feb. 23.
