GREENSBORO/CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – During two weekend matches the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team suffered a duo of setbacks after being swept by the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 7-0 on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Greensboro, N.C., and falling to the No. 28 nationally-ranked UNC Tarheels, 7-0 on Sunday, Feb. 9 in Chapel Hill.
During day one, against UNCG at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center, the Spartans took the early 1-0 lead over NCCU after capturing the doubles victory.

William East, 6-0 and at the No. 2 spot
Tamina Kienka and
Stephan Charles-Donatien fell to Ahmet Sarioglu/Daniel Mack, 6-2.
In singles play, Gerasimov forced a tie breaker at the No. 1 spot before falling to UNCG's Sarioglu, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
On Sunday, against Carolina, the Eagles faced off against two national-ranked singles players and one nationally-ranked twosome at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
During doubles action Gerasimov and East battled against the No. 50 ranked duo of Oystein Steiro/Nelson Vick falling 6-1.
Trailing UNC 1-0, the Eagles dropped six-straight matches in singles action.
Gerasimov fell to No. 17 Ronnie Schneider at the No. 1 spot (6-1, 6-3) and Chales-Donatien was defeated by the No.2 seed No. 36 nationally-ranked Brett Clark (6-0, 6-4).
At the six spot, NCCU's
Jamal Hoyte battled against the Tarheel's Stuart DePaolo before falling, 6-1, 6-5 (7-5).
The Eagles return to the courts on Sunday, Feb. 16 as they travel to Farmville, N.C., to take on the Longwood Lancers at 12 p.m.
