CBS Quality Cars Postgame Highlights and Interviews (http://youtu.be/f-lLUUkJKME)DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University basketball team pushed their home-game winning streak to 25 as they overpowered the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University, 101-38, Tuesday night, Dec. 2 in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
Senior guard
Anthony McDonald (Aberdeen, Mississippi) tied his career-high with 26 points on 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) shooting beyond-the-arc, which also tied head coach
LeVelle Moton, who hit eight threes on Feb. 18, 1995 against Virginia Union, for the third-most threes in a game in school history.
Jordan Parks (Queens, New York) dropped-in 20 points for the fourth time in his career, going 9-for-10 from-the-field, as he also ripped down seven boards against the Wildcats.
Nimrod Hilliard kept the NCCU offense rolling, dishing out 12 assists and becoming the fifth Eagle to do so since former standout Larry Crowder did so at Saint Paul's on Jan. 18, 1993.
The Eagles led throughout the entire game, but started out relatively slow, committing four turnovers within the first five minutes of play.
Two consecutive dunks by Parks gave the Eagles and the fans a boost of energy as they led 18-7 with 12:01 remaining in the half.
Junior
Karamo Jawara (Bergen, Norway) took matters into his own hands after grabbing a rebound he drove all 94-feet for a finger roll layup to stretch the lead to 23-12, leaving 8:39 on the first-half clock.
Over the final 10 minutes of play in the first frame, the Eagles outscored the Wildcats 21-7 to take a commanding 42-19 lead into the locker room.
Through the first stanza, NCCU shot an astounding 16-for-23 (69.6 percent) from-the-field that included 6-for-11 (54.5 percent) from-deep, while JWU went 4-for-22 (18.2 percent) in the first frame.
The Eagles kept up the momentum into the second half by scoring the first six points that was punctuated by yet another Parks slam to make it 48-19 with 19:12 left.
NCCU managed to widen the margin, on-the-heels of the maroon and gray defense creating 11 of the Wildcats' 22 turnovers in the second half.
The Eagles outscored Johnson and Wales 59-19 in the final frame to cruise to the 101-38 victory.
In the win, five student-athletes recorded double figures led by McDonald's 26 points as Parks finished with 20, junior
Dante Holmes (Baltimore, Maryland) ended up with 15 points, while junior
Enoch Hood (Norfolk, Virginia) and sophomore
Jamal Ferguson (Norfolk, Virginia) both
Contributed 10 points in the maroon and gray's third straight win on the year.
JWU (4-5) finished the night shooting 8-for-50 (16.0 percent) and went 2-for-16 (12.5 percent) from three-point-range. Rickey Porter was the lone Wildcat in double figures as he finished with 12 points in the loss.
NCCU (4-3) hits the road to Princess Anne, Maryland on Friday, Dec. 5 for it first conference battle against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. in Hytche Arena.
