DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University baseball senior Gavin Guarrera (Webster, N.Y.) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his outstanding performance in the classroom and on the diamond on Friday.
Guarrera boasts a 3.93 GPA majoring in Criminal Justice and has been one of the top pitchers in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) during his senior season topping the team with a 0.77 ERA with eight saves 19 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 23.1 innings pitched. The lefty currently holds the modern day record for NCCU with 14 career saves in two seasons.
NCCU (25-23, 12-12 MEAC) gets back to action tomorrow afternoon in doubleheader action against non-conference foe Gardner-Webb beginning at 1:00 p.m. from John Henry Moss Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C.
