WILMINGTON, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women’s tennis team suffered its third straight loss as the Lady Eagles fell 6-1 to the Seahawks from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on Saturday, April 6 in Wilmington, N.C., on the UNCW Courts.
Sophomore
Ekaterina Nekrasova helped NCCU avoid a shutout by knocking off UNCW’s Christina Riley at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).
UNCW swept all three matches to win the early doubles point, leading the Lady Eagles 1-0 going into singles play.
During singles action
Olesya Palko fell to Agnie Sekely in theNo. 1 slot (6-3, 6-2), as No. 3
Aissa Muamba dropped a 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) decision to Christina Riley, UNCW’s Alyssa Ritchie defeated
Rebecca Wood at the No. 4 (7-6 (7-2), 6-0),
Mia Ramic suffered a 6-0, 6-3 loss playing at No. 5 and Seahawk Hamilton Lovett swept
Brianna Gatson in the No. 6 spot (6-0, 6-0).
The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday, April 8 in home doubleheader action as NCCU hosts the rival Aggies from North Carolina A&T at 2 p.m., followed by Meredith College at 5 p.m.
