NCCU WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS 6-1 VICTORY OVER METHODIST

Lady Eagles Improve to 3-2 Overall


DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University earned its third season victory over Methodist University 6-1 on Sunday, Feb. 24 on the NCCU Tennis Courts, in Durham, N.C.
 
The home event, opening with doubles competition, consisted of No. 1 partners Olesya Palko and Aissa Muamba defeating Lady Monarchs Kathrine and Laura Baker (8-2). The Lady Eagle duo of Ekaterina Nekrasova and Rebecca Wood beating MU’s Hillary Petruska and Isabelle Graf (8-1) and to finish the doubles sweep NCCU’s Mia Ramic and Brianna Gatson finished victorious against Rachel Purser and Stephanie Hunter (8-0).

Leading the Lady Monarchs 1-0, the Lady Eagles earned the singles win by capturing five-of-six victories.
 
In singles play Palko defeated Meindl 6-1, 6-1 and Nekrasova beat Baker 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 and 2 spots. Muamba, Wood and Ramic also easily defeated their opponents beating Graf (6-0,6-1), Keli Shelton (6-0,6-2) and Petruska (6-0,6-1)

The Lady Eagles advance to 3-2 on the season while MU falls to 0-1.

NCCU returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 as the Lady Eagles travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on the Trojans from Mount Olive College at 2 p.m.
