NCCU BASEBALL TO HOST DELAWARE STATE IN MID-WEEK SERIES

Eagles are 0-6 all-time against Hornets

DURHAM, N.C. – Entering the week with a three-game losing skid, the Eagles of North Carolina Central University will look to get back in sync as the Hornets of Delaware State University come to town to battle in a two-game mid-week series beginning on Tuesday evening, Feb. 26 at 6:00 p.m. from the Durham Athletic Park in Durham, N.C. and ending with the series finale on Wednesday, Feb. 27 with a 4:00 p.m. first pitch.

These two teams may be conference foes, but these two matchups will not count towards the conference standings, however NCCU enters the week 0-6 all-time against the Hornets and are certainly looking at these two contests as a measuring stick against one of the perennial top teams in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

The last meeting between these two programs took place in the 2012 MEAC Baseball Championships at Marty Miller Field in Norfolk, Va. on Friday, May 18 with the Hornets cruising past the Eagles 16-2 to eliminate the maroon and gray from a trip to the semifinals.

Delaware State (3-2) enters the series with a three-game winning streak after beating Winthrop twice, and Army once in the Coca-Cola Rock Hill Classic.  The Hornets were picked in the preseason to win the MEAC’s Northern Division, and some experts are picking DSU to win the league’s NCAA Tournament bid.

Neither team has announced who will go on the hill in the series, but the NCCU Sports Network will be there for the entire series beginning with the Champps Pregame Show at 5:45 p.m. as play-by-play voice of the NCCU Sports Network Chris Hooks will call all the live action from the Durham Athletic Park.
