Series Schedule
Game One: Wednesday, Oct. 16 6:00 p.m.
Game Two: Friday, Oct. 18 4:00 p.m.
Game Three: Sunday, Oct. 20 at 12:00 p.m.
The series is a culmination of fall practice in which baseball programs around the country are allowed to workout in preparation for the 2014 season.
"Fall practice, along with our strength and conditioning, has progressed nicely," said NCCU head baseball coach Jim Koerner. "With a large number of freshmen, it has been great to see the upperclassmen set the tone for what has been a productive fall. Their performance has helped us get our new players acclimated to how we do things and the pace we want things done."
The Eagles are coming off a 27-29 season in 2013, where the maroon and gray made a run to the semifinals of the 2013 MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Baseball Tournament after finishing in third place in the Southern Division.
The 27 victories were the most in the program's modern era, and the nine-game winning streak in the middle of the year also set a modern era record.
"I am very excited about the potential depth of our team, especially among the position players." said Koerner. "Fall ball has given our younger student-athletes a chance to gain much-needed experience. We also put a greater emphasis this fall on what we were doing in the weight room, and they have really bought into the work ethic needed to be successful at this level. We are pointed in the right direction, now it's all about continuing the pace and making sure our young men get better each day."
