Luis Diaz ranked as No. 17 prospect by Perfect Game
DURHAM, N.C. (
www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – North Carolina Central University senior outfielder Luis Diaz used another productive summer to earn praise as he was rated as the No. 17 prospect out of the Jayhawk Baseball League by the website Perfect Game.
Diaz competed with the Dodge City Athletics who finished the regular season 26-16 where he clubbed a .378 batting average that included six doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 20 RBI. He ended the summer fourth in batting average and RBI, while collecting a .532 slugging percentage 30 starts for the A’s.
“It’s a tremendous honor being rated as a Top 20 prospect in the Jayhawk League and is further testament to Louis’ baseball ability,” said NCCU head baseball coach Jim Koerner. “His hard work has paid off and we are looking for him to continue his success this year for the Eagles.”
The A’s competed in the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan. advancing to the quarterfinals before getting bounced into the loser’s bracket by the St. Joseph Mustangs out of Missouri. The NBC World Series is a national baseball tournament with the top summer league teams in the nation meeting after qualifying in the various regional tournaments offered by the National Baseball Congress.
