NCCU WOMEN’S TENNIS CAPTURES TWO TITLES AT LONGWOOD INVITATIONAL

Nekrasova, Wood Win Flight A Doubles Title; Muamba Earns Flight B Singles Crown


FARMVILLE, Va. – The North Carolina Central University women’s tennis team captured two titles at the Longwood University Fall Invitational on Sunday in Farmville, Va.

NCCU freshman Aissa Muamba (Laval, Canada) won three straight matches without dropping a set to win the flight B singles title. In two college tournaments, the rookie has posted a 5-1 singles record.

The NCCU doubles team of sophomores Ekaterina Nekrasova (Severodvinsk, Russia) and Rebecca Wood (Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom) swept through the competition to win the flight A doubles championship.

Also in flight A doubles play, NCCU senior Olesya Palko (Kyiv, Ukraine) and freshman Mia Ramic (Split, Croatia) teamed up for a 2-1 record, including a 9-7 victory in the consolation finals, to finish in third place.

Palko, Nekrasova and Ramic each went 1-1 in singles play for the Lady Eagles.

NCCU returns to the courts on Oct. 26 to compete in the UNC-Wilmington Invitational.
