NCCU WOMEN’S TENNIS CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WITH A 5-2 VICTORY

Lady Eagles Snap a Two-Game Losing Streak with a Win Over the Aggies

GREENSBORO, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - The North Carolina Central University women’s tennis team topped regular-season action with a 5-2 victory over the Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University on Monday, April 9 in Greensboro, N.C., on the N.C. A&T campus.
 
Cameron Chatman and Olesya Palko defeated Azeib Nigatu and Cayla Cross 8-1, while Ekaterina Nekrasova and Rebecca Wood beat Nianna Henry and Kimberly Stalling 8-1.
 
In singles play, the mighty maroon secured the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference win by clutching four-of-the-six singles matchups.  Palko beat Henry, 6-1, 6-1, Chatman defeated Cross, 6-1, 6-2, Nekrasova conquered Nigatu, 6-0, 6-1 and Wood overcame Stalling, 6-4, 6-1.
 
The maroon and gray will continue the season with conference tournament action.  NCCU will make its first tournament appearance since the 2006-07 season on Friday, April 13 during the MEAC Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.
