DURHAM, N.C. (
www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University baseball team returns to the friendly confines of the Durham Athletic Park for the next two contests as the Eagles take on the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6 and 7, with both contests slated for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.
NCCU (1-10) enters the week on a six-game losing streak and will use the next two ballgames against PC to prepare for conference play which begins this weekend against arch-rival North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
The Eagles have taken on Presbyterian five times over the past two seasons with the Blue Hose winning all five matchups.
After 11 games Luis Diaz (Geneva, N.Y.) leads the way at-the-dish for the Eagles batting .359 on the season with three home runs and 10 RBI. Sophomore Troy Marrow (Lutherville, Md.) is second on the squad batting .351 with 13 hits on the year with six RBI.
Lefty Michael Romano (Spotslyvania, Va.) will make his second start of the season for the Eagles on Tuesday. The junior has thrown 11-and-two-thirds innings this season and sports a 4.63 ERA with nine strikeouts with a 0-1 record.
Head coach Jim Koerner has yet to announce the starter for the second contest on Wednesday.
