DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University earned its second straight match victory with a 6-3 win over Meredith College on Sunday in Durham, N.C.

NCCU’s top four student-athletes were undefeated, sweeping the top four singles positions and the top two doubles matches.

Junior Oleysa Palko beat Puja Patel 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Senior Cameron Chatman defeated Mary Lawrence Newton 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Freshman Ekaterina Nekrasova dropped Caroline Hunt 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. And freshman Rebecca Wood defeated Ashley Pearsall 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

Palko and Chatman teamed up at No. 1 doubles to beat Patel and Hunt, 8-3. A pair of rookies, Nekrasova and Wood, won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, over Betty Edwards and Pearsall.

NCCU (3-3) returns to action next weekend to challenge Bethune-Cookman and Savannah State in Savannah, Ga.
