NCCU obtained its second place win after defeating squads from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (6-0), Bethune-Cookman (7-0), Savannah State (7-0), Florida A&M (4-3) and Hampton (5-2). The Lady Eagles fell 0-7 to South Carolina State, who seized their sixth consecutive MEAC Championship in 2010, for their only loss of the event.
Defeating the 2010 MEAC runners-up Florida A&M 4-3, demonstrated the potential of the mighty maroon as a tennis powerhouse.
The Lady Eagles continue their season welcoming the Runnin’ Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb on Saturday, March 12 at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C., the first serve begins at 2:00 p.m.
