DIAMOND EAGLES LOOK FOR REVENGE AGAINST DUKE ON TUESDAY

Blue Devils beat NCCU 11-2 on Feb. 23

DURHAM, N.C.- (NCCUEaglePride.com) - The North Carolina Central University baseball program returns to the Bull City fresh off their week-long six-game road swing to complete the road trip with a crosstown matchup against Duke University. First pitch is set for 3:15 p.m. at Jack Coombs Field on Tuesday, March 15.

Back on Feb. 23, the Blue Devils stifled NCCU11-2 win where Duke allowed just two runs on nine hits and the Eagles left 10 runners on base. Only three Eagles recorded more than one hit with freshman Tyson Simpson, Jr. (Rocky Point, N.C.) leading the way with three hits while senior Blake Murray (Wendell, N.C.) and freshman shortstop Dylan Drayton (Raleigh, N.C.) collected two hits apiece in the loss.

NCCU and Duke have met eight previous times with the Blue Devils holding an 8-0 advantage, and the Eagles have still yet to score more than three runs in any of the matchups.

Sophomore Glenn Frye (Lillington, N.C.) will get the nod for NCCU, as the righty is coming off perhaps one of his best performances in an Eagle uniform. Against Florida A&M last Wednesday, he pitched a complete game allowed just one earned run and struck out six batters in the 22-5 win over the Rattlers. Frye (1-2) will make his fourth start of the season.

The Blue Devils (13-4) are coming off a series win against N.C. State to open ACC play where Dennis O’Grady earned Player of the Week honors after hitting 4-for-7 (.571) against the Wolfpack and .600 during the entire week while improving to 4-0 on the hill for the Blue Devils. O’Grady recorded a hit in every game last week, scored seven runs, and drove in four RBIs with three multi-hit games.

Duke freshman Dillon Haviland (0-1 1.29 ERA) will make his second start against the Eagles as the lefty pitched the first two innings back on Feb. 23 allowing only one hit and a walk in the eight batters that he faced.

First pitch from Jack Coombs Field is set for 3:15 and fans can tune in beginning at 3:00 with Eagle Gameday presented by the Hilton RTP as play-by-play voice of the NCCU Sports Network Chris Hooks will bring the action live on www.NCCUEaglePride.com. Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 years old and senior citizens.
