DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - The North Carolina Central University men’s basketball program has announced the addition of assistant coach, John Moseley, to the staff.
Moseley comes to NCCU from East Carolina University where his aspirations to get into coaching blossomed as he went from a student manager while pursuing his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to becoming director of basketball operations and later as an assistant coach under former head coach Mack McCarthy.
“John is the complete package,” said NCCU men’s basketball head coach LeVelle Moton. “His overall experience makes him an ideal fit for NCCU. The fact that he has not only worked in college athletics but in high school athletics gives him an edge and allows him to understand and manage personalities. He has a great knowledge of the game, an extremely hard worker, and will be a definite plus to this staff.”
A native of Warrenton, N.C., Moseley was an assistant coach at Winston-Salem State University during the 2007-08 season before heading back to ECU, where he worked from 2008-2010. Before his time at WSSU, he served one year as an administrative assistant at Wright State University under former coach Brad Brownell and helped the Raiders to the Horizon League tournament championship and share of the regular-season title.
Prior to WSU, he served as the varsity boys basketball coach at Warren County (N.C.) High School where he led the Eagles to the 2005 Class 2A state championship game in his first season. He was also an assistant coach at the University of Delaware from 2001-03.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in 1998 from ECU, Moseley obtained a master’s degree the following year and then worked one year as an academic coordinator in the ECU Athletics Department.
