The Eagles of North Carolina Central University enter Wednesday’s affair riding high after a 96-81 win over Allen University over the weekend. This is the final home game before NCCU heads back on the road for another long road swing away from the Bull City, starting with Saturday’s official MEAC opener at South Carolina State at 2:00 p.m. from Orangeburg, S.C. NCCU is looking to begin the home slate 3-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign.
THE SERIES
NCCU and Washington Adventist University have never met on the hardwood. The Eagles have only one more contest left on the schedule against an opponent they have never faced. The Dec. 29 matchup between NCCU and Milligan College will be the final first meeting of the year.
WASHINGTON ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY "SHOCK"
Washington Adventist University is a Christ-centered institution of higher education that supports a culture of excellence where all feel valued. It is located in Takoma Park, Md. which is a suburb of Washington, D.C. Similar to last season’s opponent, Newport News Apprentice School, WAU competes in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). The Shock are led by head coach Patrick Crarey and come into Wednesday’s contest winless at 0-6. WAU’s losses include Delaware State (63-56), an NCCU opponent on Jan. 8, Johnson C. Smith (78-72), Saint Paul’s (73-72), and Cheyney University (74-66). The Shock are led by a trio of players who average double figures with Eric Peguero leading the way with 13.7 points per game. The senior guard/forward also grabs 4.0 rebounds per game while averaging 33.0 minutes per contest. Starting guard Jamie Newton is second on the roster averaging 12.8 points per game and has 34 helpers on the year (5.6 assists per game). Daray Hill is the top reserve dropping in 10.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

The Eagles get back on the road for a brutal four-game stretch beginning on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1 at 2:00 from the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center when NCCU plays its first game as provisional members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) against South Carolina State University. Following a week-long break due to exams, NCCU takes on the likes of Air Force (Dec. 11), Michigan (Dec. 14), and Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 21).
