DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central will step out of conference play to host Longwood in a softball doubleheader at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C., on Wednesday, March 25. The first game begins at 4 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 6 p.m.

The Eagles are coming off a 10-0 five-inning win over Morgan State on Sunday to close out a three-game road series. The victory improved the Eagles' overall record to 5-23.

Tyler Suttles leads the Eagles at the plate with a .396 batting average and 12 RBIs while Izabella Chavez is hitting .352 with seven RBIs. Mia De La Fuente has knocked in 11 runs and Kendal Daniels leads the team with 14 runs scored.

Madeline Janssen has been the winning pitcher in three of the Eagles' five victories, including a three-hit shutout in Sunday's triumph. She leads NCCU with 39 strikeouts in 64.1 innings.

Longwood enters the doubleheader with a 14-21 overall record after a 12-6 win over Charleston Southern on Sunday. The Lancers are led offensively by Sophia Knock, who is batting .327 with team highs of 26 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Brooke Bennett bats .382 with 24 RBIs and eight home runs.

Lancers' pitcher Maggie Chapin tops the team with 120 strikeouts in 112 innings. Chapin was the winning pitcher in eight of Longwood's 14 victories.
