NORFOLK, Va. – Ahead of the 2026 MEAC Basketball Tournament, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball postseason honors Tuesday evening, featuring three student-athletes from the North Carolina Central men's basketball team.
Gage Lattimore was named to the All-MEAC First Team in his first season as an Eagle. Lattimore averaged 17.2 points per game and led the conference in scoring for much of the regular season. The sophomore also ranks among the conference's top five in field goal percentage (.392), second in free throw percentage (.864) and first in three-point field goal percentage (.390).
The Greensboro, N.C. native was named MEAC Player of the Week twice this season. He scored a career-high 38 points against Bluefield State in November and reached double figures in all but three games.
Lattimore transferred to NCCU from Seton Hill, a Division II program in Pennsylvania. Last season with the Griffins, he averaged 10.6 points and shot 41.9 percent from the field in 27 games.
Dionte Johnson and Kelechi Okworogwo were both named to the MEAC All-Defensive Team. The two Eagles are in their second seasons at NCCU after transferring from Maryland Eastern Shore prior to their junior years.
Johnson has been a ballhawk for much of the season, ranking in the top 20 nationally in steals. The senior is currently 10th in steals per game (2.34) and 18th in total steals (68). The Bronx, N.Y., native also leads the MEAC in steals average and ranks second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). Johnson recorded a season-high seven steals against North Carolina A&T in early December.
Okworogwo has been a presence in the paint for the Eagles. The Bronx, N.Y., native ranks among the top 10 in the conference in rebounding average (5.2) and is tied for first in blocks per game (1.4). The senior recorded a season-high five blocks against Morgan State in February. Both Okworogwo and Johnson earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.
NC Central begins postseason play Thursday, March 12, at 8 p.m. as the No. 3 Eagles face No. 6 Maryland Eastern Shore in the MEAC quarterfinals at Norfolk Scope Arena.
