NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina Central forward
Aniya Finger won the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday, Feb. 9.
Finger averaged 15.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.7 steals in leading the Eagles to a 2-1 record last week. She posted double-doubles in consecutive MEAC games including 30 points, 12 rebounds and six steals in a 69-62 home win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday. The 30 points were a career high for Finger, who had 11 points and 11 rebounds in a road loss to Norfolk State on Saturday.
A Charlotte, N.C., native, Finger picked up her second MEAC weekly honor this season. She was named MEAC Player of the Week on Dec. 29, 2025.
The graduate forward is second on the team in points per game (11.8) and rebounds per game (5.6).
