NORFOLK, Va. – After a spectacular performance in last week's match against Mount Olive, North Carolina Central's Sara Barbaric earned MEAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Barbaric helped NCCU to a 7-0 sweep, winning her doubles and singles matches. In No. 5 singles, she defeated Aline Esser 6-1, 6-2. Barbaric and Valeria San Miguel Soria were victorious 6-2 in No. 2 doubles. The freshman's triumph in singles was her first collegiate win.

Next up, the Maroon & Gray host Winston-Salem State and Longwood at Cary Tennis Park on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Eagles start the day with WSSU at 10 a.m., followed by the Lancers at 1 p.m.
