Women’s Tennis Serves Up Spring Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. – As the new year continues, the North Carolina Central women's tennis team is just weeks away from competition, as head coach Sofia Rachi Cucalon has released the spring schedule, highlighted by 11 home matches.

The Eagles stay local to open the season, traveling to NC State on Jan. 18 before heading to Duke for a doubleheader featuring Iowa on Jan. 19. NCCU then returns home to host East Carolina at its primary home site, Cary Tennis Park (CTP), on Jan. 30.

Following a road match at Davidson on Feb. 7, the Maroon & Gray return to CTP for a doubleheader against Livingstone and Mount Olive on Feb. 13. The Eagles then travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to face Wofford on Feb. 17.

NCCU hosts back-to-back doubleheaders beginning Feb. 21, welcoming Winston-Salem State and Longwood, followed by Barton and UNC Asheville on Feb. 27.

Hampton visits the NCCU Courts on March 3 before the Eagles travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for spring break matches against George Mason (March 10) and George Washington (March 12). Presbyterian comes to CTP on March 21, followed by a road match at UNC Wilmington on March 22.

The MEAC Round-Up moves to Norfolk, Va. this season as the Eagles face Delaware State (March 28), Howard and Morgan State (March 29), and Coppin State (March 30).

The Eagles close the regular season at home, hosting South Carolina State at CTP on April 6 and Shaw on April 11 at the NCCU Courts for Senior Day. In between those matches, NCCU returns to Norfolk to face Norfolk State on April 9. The MEAC Tennis Championships will be hosted by NC Central at Cary Tennis Park from April 23–25.
