DURHAM, N.C. – This Eagle Spotlight features Neiman Sneed, a senior whose dedication to growth, discipline and excellence has made him a standout member of the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team and a true example of what it means to represent Eagle Pride.
Sneed's tennis journey began at home. Watching his stepbrother play inspired him to pick up a racket and follow in his footsteps. That connection not only sparked his love for the sport, but also gave him a role model who pushed him to grow as both a player and a young man.
During his time at NCCU, Sneed has not only developed as an athlete but as a person. He credits his coach for reinforcing the importance of consistency in character. "There's not much difference between who you are on and off the court," he said. "Leadership, discipline and integrity matter everywhere."
A multiple-time MEAC All-Academic honoree, Sneed takes pride in balancing athletics and academics. He learned early on that school comes first, but in college both are equally important. His success comes from prioritizing wisely and making time for what matters.
One of his proudest recognitions is the Chekeria Reid Sportsmanship Award, which reminded him that "people are always watching; what you do off the court matters just as much as what you do on it."
As a senior, Sneed plans to pursue a career in chemical engineering, a field that aligns with his academic passion and work ethic.
As Sneed closes out his senior year, he leaves behind a reputation of reliability, excellence and quiet strength. His presence has elevated the NCCU men's tennis program, and his academic ambitions promise an exciting future ahead.
Neiman Sneed's journey is far from over; in fact, he's just getting started.
