DURHAM, N.C. – Five North Carolina Central softball student-athletes were honored for their academic and athletic prowess by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday, May 27.
The CSC placed
Kia Borum,
Cameron Frye,
Takia Nichols,
Nyla Rodgers and
Tyler Suttles on its Academic All-District Division I Softball Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA). She must have played in at least 90 percent and started in at least 66 percent of the team's games in the 2025 season.
For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched at least 35 innings. Each institution could nominate up to five softball student-athletes.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
