DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University hosts the 2025 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Championships on April 24-26 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. Both the men's and women's NC Central teams have earned the No.2 seeds in their respective brackets.
There are seven women's tennis teams in the MEAC with South Carolina State clinching the No.1 seed as regular season champs. The Bulldogs get a bye into the semifinals.
In the same part of the bracket, No.4 Norfolk State and No.5 Delaware State play each other in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 24 at 8 a.m. for a chance to move on to the semifinals for the waiting Bulldogs.
NCCU (11-8, 5-1 MEAC) heads the other side of the bracket as the No.2 seed. The Eagles take on No.7 Coppin State on Thursday, April 24 in the second quarterfinals with the first serve set for 8 a.m.
The third quarterfinal match of the day features No.3 Howard and No.6 Morgan State at 11 a.m. The winner of this match moves on to the semifinals to face the champion of the NCCU and Coppin State bout.
Both women's semifinals are set for Friday, April 25 at 9 a.m. with the championship match the following day at the same time.
With only six teams in the mix in the men's bracket, South Carolina State has a bye as the No.1 seed and won't see action until the semifinals on Friday. The winner of the quarterfinal match between No.4 Morgan State and No.5 Howard on Thursday, April 24 at 2 p.m. will face the Bulldogs.
NC Central (15-5, 4-1 MEAC) earned the No.2 seed on the opposite side of the bracket, which grants the men a bye. Awaiting the Eagles will be the winner of Thursday's 2 p.m. matchup between No.3 Norfolk State and No.6 Coppin State.
The men's semifinal matches are set for Friday, April 25 at 12 p.m. The victors from both contests will determine the 2025 conference champion in the finals on Saturday, April 26 at 12 p.m.
Admission to the MEAC Tennis Championships each day is free. All semifinal matches and the women's and men's championships will be streamed on ESPN+.
